Abstract

Cet article présente une identification de l’auteur du manuscrit intitulé ‘Urjūza Fī-Al-Anġām (fin du XVIe siècle, début du XVIIe siècle), dont la copie unique est conservée à la Bayerische Staatsbibliothek de Munich sous la cote Ms. cod. arab. 591, fos 104(b)–110(a). L’auteur de ce manuscrit est identifié comme étant Mullah Muṭribī As-Samarqandī Al-’Aṣamm (le sourd) (1559–1630), formé à Boukhara et auteur d’un masnavī intitulé Mahabbat-Nāmah, d’un dīwān intitulé Najm-i Saqib, ainsi que d’une anthologie offerte à l’empereur Jahangir. Loin d’être un simple bouffon, As-Samarqandī fut un informateur de grande valeur pour l’empereur. Dans ses mémoires relatant ses conversations avec Jahangir, il consacra un court chapitre à la musique. L’article présente principalement des éditions française et arabe du manuscrit ‘Urjūza Fī-Al-Anġām

This article identifies the author of the manuscript entitled ‘Urjūza Fī-Al-Anġām (late sixteenth–early seventeenth century), whose only known copy is preserved at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich under Ms. cod. arab. 591, fols. 104(b)–110(a). The author is identified as Mullah Muṭribī As-Samarqandī Al-’Aṣamm (the deaf) (1559–1630), who was educated in Bukhara and authored a masnavī entitled Mahabbat-Nāmah, a dīwān entitled Najm-i Saqib, and an anthology presented to Emperor Jahangir. Far from being a mere buffoon, As-Samarqandī served as a valuable informant to the emperor. In his memoirs recounting his conversations with Jahangir, he devoted a brief chapter to music. This article mainly presents French and Arabic editions of the manuscript ‘Urjūza Fī-Al-Anġām
