Article Processing Charge
The Revue des Traditions Musicales (RTM) / Journal of Musical Traditions follows the Platinum Open Access publishing model, ensuring that publishing is free to publish and access is free to access. There are no fees at the time of submission, acceptance, or article processing, and no hidden charges. This model aligns with the mission of Luminous Insights—free to publish, free to access—to remove financial barriers to scholarly publishing and advance research in musical traditions.
RTM provides unrestricted access to its published content in French, English, and Arabic, including advanced search functionalities and unlimited article downloads. The costs associated with open-access publishing, article processing, long-term preservation, and indexing are fully covered by Luminous Insights and the journal’s sponsor, Antonine University (Université Antonine), in collaboration with Sorbonne Université and the Institut de Recherche en Musicologie (IReMus). This support ensures that all articles are permanently archived, cross-referenced, and electronically cited, thereby maximizing the visibility and impact of published research.
Author fees and charges
RTM does not charge authors any fees from submission through publication. The table below lists all fee types that DOAJ and transparency guidelines require journals to disclose. Where a fee does not apply, it is explicitly stated as none (USD $0).

Fee waivers
Because RTM charges no author fees at any stage, fee waivers are not applicable. All authors receive the same free-to-publish, free-to-access service regardless of institution, country, or funding status.
Optional third-party services
Luminous Insights offers an optional language-editing service through Scribendi for authors who wish to improve manuscript language before submission. This is a voluntary, author-paid third-party service arranged directly with the provider. It is separate from the journal’s editorial and peer-review process, is not required for submission or publication, and does not influence editorial decisions. Use of this service is not a journal charge.
Optional print offprints
The corresponding author receives a PDF of the published article at no cost. Paper offprints may be ordered separately at the author’s expense through an offprint order form provided upon acceptance; this is a print vendor service and not an author publication fee charged by the journal.
