Abstract

This study explores the combined influence of financial transparency and corporate social responsibility on the achievement of economic sustainable development in Lebanon, a nation that endures deep economic, institutional, and social crises. It aims to assess how these two governance dimensions contribute individually and jointly to foster inclusive growth, rebuild trust, and enhance economic resilience. Through a quantitative approach, data were collected from 183 professionals across various Lebanese firms via a structured questionnaire. Structural equation models were employed to analyze the relationships between financial transparency, corporate social responsibility, and economic sustainable development. The model was validated through factor analysis, reliability tests, and multiple fit indices. The results show that both financial transparency and corporate social responsibility significantly and positively impact sustainable development, with a stronger combined effect. Transparent financial practices improve stakeholder trust and accountability, while corporate social responsibility supports social inclusion, human capital, and environmental stewardship. The study is limited by its cross-sectional design and country-specific focus. It provides valuable implications: policymakers should enforce transparency regulations and incentivize corporate social responsibility; businesses should treat both practices as strategic assets; and development partners should align support with progress in these areas. This research offers a novel, integrated framework applicable to other fragile or emergent economies, and positions ethical corporate conduct as a foundational pillar for national recovery and long-term sustainable growth.
