Abstract

Derrière leur phonétique curieuse et leur sémantique incompréhensible, les for-mules-types présentes dans le chant populaire traditionnel libanais, sont au cœur d’un phénomène dynamique rythmique à trois visages. L’analyse homotonique de la scansion chantée de ces formules linguistiques, révèle la présence d’autres formules accentuelles rythmiques inhérentes,  et la possibilité d’un modèle mé-trique (comme le cas du qarrādī), de couver plusieurs combinaisons métrico-rythmiques internes. Enfin, on peut trouver certaines similitudes entre ces combi-naisons et certains cycles rythmiques savants arabes. Cette analyse préliminaire et ce « repérage » ne permettent pas de formuler de réelles conclusions, mais il y a certainement ici une piste à explorer, et pour reprendre la citation de During, « quelque chose se passe », dans ces formules qui seraient peut-être un foyer d’intersection entre ces deux traditions musicales.

Behind their curious phonetics and incomprehensible semantics, the standard formulaic sentences of the traditional popular Lebanese songs are at the heart of a three part dynamic and rhythmic phenomena. The syllabic homotonic analysis of the singing mode of these formulas reveals some rhythmic accent combinations. According to rhythmic analysis, several internal metrical and rhythmical patterns can run in one single metrical type, as here for the qarrādī metric type. Finally, we find similarities between these combinations and some rhythmic classical Arabic cycles. This preliminary rhythmic analysis can’t allow wide conclusions, but we have certainly here some new path to explore. This phenomenon reminds us of the famous expression of During, « quelque chose se passe », (something is happening ...), as these formula-types could be at some crossroads between these two musical traditions.
